PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) today announced the appointment of the following nine new Commissioners:
- Drew Alexander, of New York, N.Y. Alexander is the head of school for Leman Manhattan Preparatory School in New York, N.Y. He has also served as the director of the Anglo-American School in Moscow and as principal and interim superintendent at Cairo American College in Cairo.
- Gunter Brandt, of Williamsburg, Va. Brandt is an advisor for Esol Education in Dubai and has served as the head of school for several international schools, including the Baldwin School of Puerto Rico, Frankfurt International School and Country Day School in Costa Rica. Brandt served as the president of the Association of American Schools in South America and was a member of the board of the Greater Washington Association of Schools.
- Stephen P. Dill, of Newtown Square, Pa. Dill is vice president for leadership and school quality for the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) in Colorado Springs, Col. Prior to joining ASCI, he spent 40 years in multiple roles at Delaware County Christian School, including 14 years as assistant headmaster and 11 as head of school.
- William Harst, Ed.D., of Reading, Pa. Harst is a retired professor of education for Alvernia College in Reading, Pa., where he served as Education Department Chair from 2004 to 2007. He worked for the Exeter Township School District for 20 years, five of which he served as superintendent.
- Marianne Hobbie, Ph.D., of Rockville Centre, N.Y. Hobbie is assistant superintendent for the Diocese of Rockville Centre in New York. She is the former principal of Saint Patrick School in Chatham, N.J. Hobbie has received numerous professional awards and holds her doctorate degree in Philosophy of Catholic Educational Leadership from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
- Tamika Maultsby, of Temple Hills, Md. Maultsby is deputy chief of staff for Friendship Public Charter School in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Friendship, she served as senior management and program analyst for the District of Columbia Public Schools.
- Arthur McMahon, of Glen Cove, N.Y. McMahon is a financial consultant for Airline Capital Associates, an aviation-consulting firm in New York, N.Y. He is former executive director of Terminal One Management Inc. and has held various leadership positions with the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (AMTRAK), British Airways, Chemical Bank, Trans World Airlines and American Airlines.
- Charles Michael Shaddow, Ph.D. of Asbury, N.J. Shaddow is the superintendent for the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District. He previously worked for the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District in Cleveland, Ohio. He was named Hunterdon County Superintendent of the Year in 2013 by the Hunterdon County Association of School Administrators.
- Patricia Silvestri, of Montclair, N.J. Silvestri manages client services and business to business partnership development for the higher education division of ScholarChip Card Company, LLC in New York, N.Y. She has held project management roles for a variety of companies, including Marsh McLennan and Pfizer.
