The Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) recently announced the appointment of Amy Wesley as a commissioner.
Wesley is executive director of SABIS®, a global education management organization headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minn. She is one of five new commissioners.
“Middle States commissioners serve an important role in helping raise the quality of education in the United States and around the world,” MSA-CESS President Christian Talbot said. “We are grateful to Amy for her commitment to Middle States and for volunteering her expertise to help schools grow and improve through accreditation and innovation.”
Wesley has worked with SABIS for over 25 years and has held roles working with schools in the public and private sectors. She is also a veteran educator, having taught in both public and private, international schools.
After graduating from the College of St. Benedict with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education, Wesley became a Fulbright Scholar based in Salzburg, Austria. She went on to earn her MBA from the University of Sioux Falls. Wesley is fluent in English and German.
“I am honored to join Middle States as a commissioner,” said Wesley, who lives in Chanhassen, Minn. “Middle States accreditation serves as independent validation of the good work schools are doing and ensures their mission, goals, performance and resources are aligned so they can continue to meet and exceed the highest standards.”
The Middle States Commissions on Elementary Schools and Schools comprise 38 commissioners serving three-year terms and elected by the Middles States membership. Commissioners meet twice annually to review accreditation recommendations and the organization’s finances, policies and strategic plan.
