Suzanna Jemsby, Head Of Washington International School, Appointed As Middle States Commissioner

The Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) announces the appointment of Suzanna Jemsby, head of the Washington International School in Washington, D.C., as a new commissioner.

Jemsby is one of six commissioners recently appointed to MSA-CESS.

“Suzanna has extensive experience in schools in the United States and overseas,” said Lisa Marie McCauley, Ed.D., president of the MSA-CESS. “As a multilingual international educator, Suzanna is a wonderful addition to the Commissions and brings a valuable perspective.”

Jemsby has served as the head of the Washington International School since 2018. She previously served as the head of The Galloway School in Atlanta and as the executive director of The Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education, in Atlanta. During her tenure with The Galloway School, Jemsby founded the BOLD Summit, for aspiring leaders of color.

Jemsby was a fellow in the Head of School program at Klingenstein Center, Columbia University. She holds a Master’s degree in Modern and Medieval Languages from the University of Cambridge, and speaks English, French, German, strong Swedish, basic Italian and Spanish.

“I am pleased to serve on the Middle States Commmissions and to have the opportunity to use my expertise to help other schools grow and improve,” said Jemsby. “ I believe firmly in the value of Middle States accreditation and the important role it plays in advancing education throughout the world.”
