The Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools voted at its biannual meeting this spring to accredit or reaccredit 124 schools and school systems in 11 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and 15 other countries.
Among the schools that earned accreditation or reaccreditation are more than 20 Catholic schools and several learning services providers, career and technical post-secondary institutions and charter schools.
“One of the great things about Middle States accreditation is that it starts with an evaluation of what a school or school system is doing well, and essentially celebrates that good work,” said Middle States Commissioner Craig J. Tice, Ph.D. “Through the self-study process, schools and school systems collect input from stakeholders, including school leaders, teachers, parents and students, and use that input to create a strategic plan that is focused on continuous improvement.”
